NEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR VAN GELDER, BAAS AND THE METROPOLE ORCHESTRA AT TRANSITION FESTIVAL
On Saturday 8 April 2017 TivoliVredenburg and North Sea Jazz present the second edition of Transition Festival in Utrecht.
Ben van Gelder and Reiner Baas performed two concerts with the Metropole Orchestra in January 2016. This collaboration turned out to work so well that it was decided to once again share the stage. The repertoire includes works by both Baas and van Gelder and promises to be surprising and varied in terms of both music and the orchestral line-up. Gerd Hermann Ortler also wrote some new arrangements of Ben's music for this concert.

COMPOSING FOR THE SYMPHONIEORCHESTER VORARLBERG AND THE JAZZORCHESTER VORARLBERG
The Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg and the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg commissioned Gerd Hermann Ortler to compose the music for their upcoming collaboration project. The performances will take place at the Festspielhaus Bregenz and at the Montforthaus Feldkirch in November 2017. Stay tuned!
RECOMPOSITION/ARRANGEMENT OF "FUNICULÌ FUNICULÀ" FOR CLARON MC FADDEN, MIKE DEL FERRO AND THE METROPOLE ORCHESTRA
Gerd Hermann Ortler's Recomposition/Arrangement of "Funiculì Funiculà" will be released on the 6th of May by Challenge Records.
It can also be heard live on the 8th of May at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, performed by the fabulous Claron McFadden (soprano), Mike del Ferro (piano) and the Metropole Orchestra (conducted by Jules Buckley).

BE PHILHARMONIC
Gerd Hermann Ortler wrote a variation on Johann Strauss's An der schönen blauen Donau for the BePhilharmonic TV Trailer. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is starting 'BePhilharmonic' with the Strauss Music Contest, where children and young people from 6 to 19 years of age are invited to re-interpret classical music pieces - completely free, fresh and up to date.

A TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA. Overture for the "Orchester der Vereinigten Bühnen Wien".
Gerd Hermann Ortler's overture for the Jazz Fest Wien "Sinatra-Tribute" will be performed by the "Orchester der Vereinigten Bühnen Wien" (cond. by Herbert Pichler) on the 6th of July at the Vienna State Opera. The artists of the evening are Thomas Quasthoff, Angelika Kirchschlager, Allan Harris and Louie Austen. The Show is sold out!

Jazz Fest Wien "Sinatra-Tribute" at the Vienna State Opera
DER REITENDE URZWERG. Western for String Orchestra and Harp.
Gerd Hermann Ortler's new composition "DER REITENDE URZWERG. Western für Streichorchester und Harfe" will be premiered on the 5th of May by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Joji Hattori at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
