URKNALL. The Birth of the Universe

We’re delighted to announce that GHO was commissioned by the Wiener Konzerthaus to write a composition for Olivier LATRY, phil Blech and the Wiener Singakademie!

This 40 minute piece is called «URKNALL. The Birth of the Universe for Organ, Brass Ensemble, Percussion and Female Choir». It will be premiered in May 2022, preceding Gustav Holst's «The Planets» (arranged by Mark Gaal).

Vienna Philharmonic soloists Matthias Schorn, Christoph Gigler and Josef Reif are playing some of GHO’s chamber music together with students from the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK). The concert is part of Matthias Schorn’s series Matthias Schorn in the MuTh and takes place on May 31st | 7.30 pm (CET) | MuTh (Am Augartenspitz 1, 1020 Vienna)

GHO PASSION - Film Premiere

In these challenging times, the cultural life and in particular the stage for music and performance has been shut down.

PASSION: The hope for resurrection. That's the message that inspired composer Gerd Hermann Ortler to join forces with other art forms. The result is a spectacular film, an encounter between music and fine art, a special concert in front of art works by Gottfried Helnwein in the ALBERTINA MUSEUM.

CUCKOO CLOCK

Gerd Hermann Ortler’s new composition “CUCKOO CLOCK - for Percussion Ensemble (2019)” will be premiered by the “conTakt percussion group” at the Kulturhaus Schlanders - Italy (3th of November 2019). This composition was commissioned by the South Tyrolean Artists Association and will be recorded and released on CD.

Gerd Hermann Ortler had the honour to compose and conduct this piece, performed by world class musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic / Wiener Philharmoniker and the Staatsopernorchester at the Vienna Opera Ball. The organizer, Mrs. Maria Großbauer, presented it to Mr. Dominique Meyer, director of the Vienna State Opera.

CONDUCTING AT THE MUSIKVEREIN VIENNA
